Central Bank Of Oman
Data Centre & Office Extension
Lead Design Architect
As the Lead Design Architect at COWI, embarked on an innovative journey, overseeing the design and supervision of the Central Bank of Oman's Extension Office Complex and Data Center. This visionary project encompassed two basement levels accommodating 675 cars and an additional 250 staff office spaces, expanding over 40,000 sq.m.
One of the primary objectives was to minimize ground-level vehicular traffic, transforming the urban setting into a sprawling garden oasis. This green haven enriched the environment and yielded numerous benefits, including a reduced carbon footprint, diminished noise pollution, enhanced micro-climate, improved air quality, and a mitigated 'heat island' effect on the site.
Nestled within this verdant setting, the Data Center emerged as the 'Jewel' at the heart of the development, cocooned within the protective embrace of the new office accommodations, hidden from the outside world. The architectural language on the public facades of the new building subtly echoed the design elements of the existing bank building, showcasing a harmonious blend of modern architecture and timeless materials.
In this symphony of architecture and innovation, our project was meticulously split into four major phases, spanning six years of dedication and commitment. It was our winning design, outshining several competitors in a rigorous competition.
With the esteemed Central Bank of Oman as the client, this project stands as a testament to our unwavering pursuit of architectural excellence and our ability to integrate modernity with tradition seamlessly.
